MUSEUM SATELLITE - Winning project of the Open Call: "Kunst an der Baustelle", Ferdinandeum Innsbruck
The Ferdinandeum – Tyrolean State Museum is being rebuilt and reimagined: as an open, inviting space, a place for questions to be asked and answers to be heard, in relation to the city. The artist AliPaloma is part of this process in two ways: through open questions on the construction fence and with the Museum Satellite. The Museum Satellite is a temporary, mobile meeting space. In form and function, it references the historical Rotunda, the circular entrance area of the Ferdinandeum. The satellite collects impressions, voices and ideas from the museum team and from all who want to participate – thoughts generated in participatory moments and conversations in response to questions about the future of the museum.
The fence around the construction site at the Ferdinandeum is the point of departure. With its focus on questions of participation, change and the role of the museum, it marks not only a boundary but also a space for the potential in the process of moving from the old to the new. The questions invite people to think further and create new approaches to a more open museum.
